Michael WilhiteMichael brings a wealth of experience to his current role leading our growing team in India. He had completed a Ph.D. in Social Psychology and five years of experience in marketing research when he became the first person to join dunnhumbyUSA following the launch of our partnership with Kroger in 2003.

As Director of Analysis for dunnhumbyUSA, Michael was instrumental in making sure that our solutions were responsive our clients’ business objectives. He also helped hire and grow our team in the United States and supported the expansion of client base beyond Kroger.

Michael has a deep passion for delivering solutions that put the customer first solutions. A firm believer in the use of customer insights to drive business decisions, Michael enjoys building the strong and constructive client relationships that ensure the successful implementation of our solutions. As well as the variety of work he gets at dunnhumby, Michael comments that it is the calibre of people he gets to work with, from both within dunnhumby and from our clients, that makes him look forward to coming to work in the morning.

Michael is excited to take on the task of building on the excellent early work of our team in India in supporting the work of dunnhumby all over the world.

Simon HayOutside the founders, Simon is the longest-serving person at dunnhumby, having joined the company in 1991 to look after its client-facing operations.

Having graduated with a degree in Human Geography, Simon spent seven years with the market analysis company CACI, working on the analysis of patterns of retailing. It was his interest in using customer insight and transforming it into business strategies that initially attracted him to dunnhumby.

Managing the Tesco relationship for the seven years up to 2001 as client services director gave Simon a broad range of responsibilities as this key client represented the bulk of the company’s activities during much of this time.

Having also handled various short-term projects outside the UK, Simon took up the challenge of leading dunnhumby’s expansion to the United States through a partnership with major grocery retailer Kroger. In his six years at the helm of dunnhumbyUSA, Simon saw the company grow from a team of just four to the several hundred we have today, reflecting the success of its work for Kroger and other clients. The quality and importance of Simon’s leadership was honoured in 2009 by Ernst & Young, who named him Entrepreneur of the Year.

Still galvanised by the challenge of gaining ever-more actionable insight from our clients’ data, Simon returned to London in 2009 to take up his new position as Head of the UK & Ireland.

Stuart AitkenStuart joined dunnhumbyUSA as its Chief Operating Officer in 2009, bringing with him over 15 years of marketing, academic and technical experience across a variety of industries. The thread running through Stuart’s career, from his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Michael’s Stores to running Marketing Strategies for Safeway, has been his passion for doing what is right for the customer and rewarding the behaviour you seek.

That passion attracted him to dunnhumby, a company that he has followed for years. dunnhumby is the one company he believes to truly help its clients practice a philosophy that puts the customer first. Stuart is driven by the opportunities that come with unlocking the potential of our clients’ data assets. With his broad range of retail experience, Stuart is ideally suited to ensuring that dunnhumbyUSA continues to help its clients deliver a better customer experience and therefore improve their own business performance.

Striving for ever-increasing levels of insight, Stuart is greatly looking forward to working with our clients to realize the full potential of listening of what customers are telling us.

Olivier DeschampsOlivier is ideally suited to head up the dunnhumby business in France having previously held senior positions at the company’s key client, Groupe Casino, and it is this experience that is helping him to build a significant operation in France.

His latter years at Casino involved a spell in charge of marketing services and loyalty, with responsibility for loyalty schemes and the supermarket’s various consumer services. This was followed by five years as vice president of marketing, involving him overseeing two major projects related to loyalty and private label.

With his experience in customer-facing operations Olivier was given responsibility for the dunnhumby trial within the Casino business that ran from November 2005 to June 2006. Following its success he handled the joint-venture agreement between the two groups in October 2006.

Shortly afterwards, and looking for a new challenge, Olivier decided to make the move from Casino and join the fledgling dunnhumby France business in March 2007 as managing director. His own passion for customers combined with the opportunity of joining a rapidly growing international business proved attractive to Olivier. His focus to date has been on building the team in France for both the Retail division and the newly-formed CPG arm.

Andy HillBeing innately curious is an attribute that has served Andy well at dunnhumby.  The desire to find answers ultimately helps the company find solutions to questions posed by its many clients around the world.

This characteristic has enabled him to take on a series of varied and challenging roles since joining the company as a graduate in 1995. These have included working on the Tesco account, launching dunnhumby’s solutions in the UK and US, and co-managing the UK as Client Solutions Lead.

In July 2008, Andy’s ability to understand the intricacies of clients’ needs was again brought to bear. He is now developing dunnhumby’s newly-opened company near Venice, Italy, a joint venture between dunnhumby and Gruppo PAM, which operates the PAM supermarkets and Panorama hypermarket chains.

dunnhumby has two objectives in Italy; first to use customer insight to help change Gruppo PAM into a customer-first organisation, building customers long-term loyalty and growing sales. Second, to help manufacturers and Gruppo PAM win together through a more collaborative approach around the customer.

Andy believes that as dunnhumby grows there will continue to be many opportunities within the company for people with curiosity and a desire to succeed.
