When I started at dunnhumby, I immediately knew it was different. One of the rewards for me has been the responsibility you’re given from day one. The harder you work and the more you improve and deliver, the more you are rewarded with new responsibilities and challenges. Within my first year at dunnhumby, I was able to transition to new roles in the organization, completely dependent on my strengths and where I wanted to take my career.

dunnhumby recognizes that it is its people that make our company different from everywhere else, which is why it believes in rewarding people generously. I once heard somebody say “I get my best ideas when I’m on the beach.” Providing employees with five weeks of vacation ensures that we have time to be creative and relax with family and friends. This appreciative, rewarding culture is just one of the many reasons I love working here.

Every year, I set my objectives with my manager for the next 12 months. It makes it simple for me to understand what is expected of me and where I can excel.

I also receive structured feedback from my peers 6 months after setting the objectives. So I know what I am doing well and how I can do better.

I have found the process very effective and I feel any good work I have done has always been highlighted and rewarded through it.

As well as salary and bonus, I also use my flexible benefits to get discounted gym membership, private healthcare and dental care. We also get what is called a Treat Yourself Allowance. This is a few hundred pounds allowance you get once a year. I used mine this year to help pay for a amazing trip to Vietnam.

I want a competitive salary and benefits package

At dunnhumby excellence never goes unnoticed. I suppose you could say that when it comes to reward, we are the customer – and dunnhumby truly put us first. That reward comes in two distinct ways: career progression and actually compensation.

The career path is tailored to suit an individual’s needs and capabilities. I say career and not ‘job’ because at dunnhumby you are not hired for a job, but for a career. That means that if you do excellent work, you are charged with increasingly greater responsibility. So there are always opportunities for you to advance your career, which I think is really important so early on in my career.

The package of salary and benefits is also generous. The benefits are especially good as you can tailor them to your own needs. It’s a really nice touch that shows that the company really appreciates the hard work you put in.

Considering I joined dunnhumby straight out of college, I have a very competitive salary and benefits package. My friends are pretty jealous of the 25-days of paid vacation I get a year!

But it’s not only in the traditional package that dunnhumby rewards its people. Since joining, I’ve taken advantage of benefits including walking my local grocery store with a nutritionist (helpful since Mom isn’t cooking any more) and using our free state-of-the-art gym. The most rewarding thing for me though is the potential for career progression. Because the company is growing so fast, there is a big emphasis on developing its talent to take responsibility quickly. That’s really exciting, as I’ve been given challenges that will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career.
