Brazil Retailer Preference Index 2021

Price. Assortment. Experience. Convenience. There are many levers that go into shoppers’ decision about where they buy their food. But what is the most important thing? What is the ideal combination to attract customers? And how well can this mix be achieved?

As with all the Retailer Preference Index studies we conduct, Brazil’s Índice de Preferência do Consumidor (IPCon) is a nationwide study that ranks 38 retailers including both regional and national stores, based on how well they meet their customer’s needs. Between April and May of this year, more than 6,800 Brazilian consumers completed an online survey to help answer these core questions:

  • What drives retailer preference among shoppers?
  • Which retailers are winning and losing?
  • Why are they winning or losing?
  • What can retailers do to improve their standing?

Our goal: to help retailers better understand their customers to offer a value proposition that is aligned with their needs, to win more shopping trips and to drive sustainable growth.
